Usually, a mildly acid taste, light bodied but flavourful & aromatic. Peru coffee are considered a good blender owing to its nice but understated characteristics. The Cuzco location, particularly the Urubamba Valley, also produces renound wet-processed coffee. The highest level is AAA.
Peruvian coffee may be a darker roast but do not need to be. Light or dark roast depends on the coffee bean roasting after the coffee has been grown. Peruvian coffee is suited to both light and dark roasting.
The acidity of a coffee is in part due to the cultivating location and partly impactged from the method a bean is processed and roasted. Brazilian, Peruvian, Kenyan and Ethiopian beans are all in this category. The coffees that are less in acidity, such as Sumatra, are produced at lower elevations.
Both coffee beans have a simple and balanced taste. Peruvian coffee is not as thick as Colombian, instead with a medium mouthfeel. Peruvian coffee is also medium in acidity & lacks the aromatic quality of a Colombian coffee beans.
Arabica is the largest coffee farmed:
- 70% of which is Typica (Typica is an original Arabica type which is a tall and leggy low yield shrub but provides high qualities, typically quite sweet & clean);
- 20 percent is Caturra (Caturra is a natural mutation of the Bourbon coffee tree that was originally discovered in Brazil in 1937, considered to be the 1st naturally occurring mutation ever found); and
- the remainder being of other types.
About 75% of the coffee cultivating area lies at an altitude range of 1,000–1,800 metres.
