Is Peruvian coffee good?

Usually, a mildly acid coffee, light-bodied but tasteful & aromatic. Peru coffee beans are considered a good blender because of its pleasant but understated characteristics. The Cuzco region, especially the Urubamba Valley, also produces respected wet-processed coffee. The highest grade is AAA.

Is Peruvian coffee a dark roast?

Peru coffee beans can be a dark roast but do not need to be. Light or dark roast depends on the coffee roasting after the coffee has been farmed. Peruvian coffee is suited to both light & dark roasting.

Is Peruvian Coffee low acid?

The acidity of a coffee is partly due to the growing location and in part influenced by the method a bean is processed & roasted. Brazilian, Peruvian, Kenyan and Ethiopian beans falls into this category. The coffees that are less in acidity, such as Sumatran, are produced at lower elevations.

Peruvian coffee vs Colombian

Both coffees show a simple yet balanced flavour. Peruvian coffee is not as thick as Colombian, instead with a medium mouthfeel. Peruvian coffee is also medium in acidity & does not have the aromatic quality of a Colombian beans.

Is Peru Coffee arabica or robusta?

Arabica is the predominant coffee grown:

70 percent of which is Typica (Typica is an original Arabica strain which is a tall & leggy low yield tree but produces great qualities, usually quite sweet & clean);
20 percent is Caturra (Caturra is a natural mutation of the Bourbon coffee variety that was originally found in Brazil in 1937, thought to be the first naturally occurring mutation ever found); and
the rest are other varieties.

About 75% of the coffee farming area lies at an altitude range of 1,000 to 1800 m.

Low altitude producers in Peru, like farms located around the town of Nambale near the border with Peru & Ecuador, usually grow coffee with mild acidity, medium body, and smooth notes of nuts, flowers, and gentle fruit.
