Generally, a mildly acid cup, light-bodied but tasteful and aromatic. Peru are thought of as a good blender because of its pleasant but understated attributes. The Cuzco location, especially the Urubamba Valley, also cultivates respected wet-processed coffee. The best level is AAA.
Peru coffee beans may be a darker roast but do not need to be. lighter or darker roast is dependent on the coffee roaster after the coffee has been farmed. Peruvian coffee is suited to both lighter and darker roasting.
The acidity of a coffee is because of the farming area and in part impactged from the method a bean is processed and roasted. Brazilian, Peruvian, Kenyan and Ethiopian beans falls into this category. The coffees that are reduced in acidity, such as Sumatran, are grown at lower elevations.
Both coffee beans have a simple and balanced taste. Peruvian coffee is not as thick as Colombian, instead with a medium mouthfeel. Peruvian coffee is also medium in acidity & lacks the aromatic quality of a Colombian coffee beans.
Arabica is the primary coffee crop:
- 70 percent of which is Typica (Typica is an original Arabica type which is a tall and leggy low yield plant but produces great qualities, typically very sweet & clean);
- 20% is Caturra (Caturra is a natural mutation of the Bourbon coffee variety that was originally found in Brazil in 1937, thought to be the first naturally occurring mutation ever found); and
- the remainder being of other types.
About 75% of the coffee cultivation area lies at an altitude range of 1000–1800 m.
