Typically, it is a mildly acid taste, light-bodied but tasteful & aromatic. Peru coffee are known as a good blending coffee because of its nice but understated attributes. The Cuzco area, particularly the Urubamba Valley, also cultivates respected wet-processed coffee. The highest level is AAA.
Peru coffee beans may be a dark roast but do not need to be. lighter or darker roast depends on the bean roasting after the coffee has been produced. Peruvian coffee is suited to both light and dark roasting.
The acidity of a coffee is partly due to the growing region & partly impactged by the way a bean is processed and roasted. Brazilian, Peruvian, Kenyan and Ethiopian beans falls into this category. The coffees that are reduced in acidity, such as Sumatran, are cultivated at lower elevations.
Both beans show a simple & balanced taste. Peruvian coffee is less thick as Colombian, instead with a medium mouthfeel. Peruvian coffee is also medium in acidity & lacks the aromatic quality of a Colombian coffee.
Arabica is the largest coffee farmed:
- 70 percent of which is Typica (Typica is an original Arabica variety that is a tall & leggy small yield plant but provides high qualities, usually very sweet & clean);
- 20 percent is Caturra (Caturra is a natural mutation of the Bourbon coffee strain that was originally discovered in Brazil in 1937, considered to be the first naturally occurring mutation ever found); and
- the rest being of other types.
About 75 percent of the coffee farming area lies at an altitude range of 1000–1800 m.
