Generally, a mildly acid taste, light-bodied but tasteful and aromatic. Peru beans are known as a good blending coffee due to its nice but understated attributes. The Cuzco region, especially the Urubamba Valley, also cultivates renound wet-processed coffee. The best level is AAA.
Peruvian coffee may be a dark roast but do not need to be. lighter or darker roast is dependent on the coffee roasting after the coffee has been produced. Peruvian coffee is suited to both light and dark roasting.
The acidity of a coffee is partly due to the growing location & partly impactged by the method a bean is processed and roasted. Brazilian, Peruvian, Kenyan and Ethiopian beans falls into this category. The coffees that are reduced in acidity, such as Sumatra, are cultivated at lower altitudes.
Both beans exhibit a simple yet balanced taste. Peruvian coffee is less thick as Colombian, instead with a medium mouthfeel. Peruvian coffee is also medium in acidity and lacks the aromatic quality of a Colombian coffee beans.
Arabica is the primary coffee grown:
- 70% of which is Typica (Typica is an original Arabica strain that is a tall & leggy low yield plant but provides high qualities, generally very sweet & clean);
- 20 percent is Caturra (Caturra is a natural mutation of the Bourbon coffee plant that was originally found in Brazil in 1937, thought to be the first naturally occurring mutation ever found); and
- the rest are other types.
About 75% of the coffee growing area is at an altitude range of 1000 to 1800 m.
