Usually, it is a mildly acid taste, light-bodied but flavourful & aromatic. Peru coffee beans are considered a good blending coffee because of its pleasant but understated characteristics. The Cuzco location, particularly the Urubamba Valley, also grows respected wet-processed coffee. The highest grade is AAA.
Peruvian coffee may be a dark roast but do not need to be. lighter or darker roast is dependent on the coffee bean roasting after the coffee has been farmed. Peruvian coffee is suited to both light and dark roasting.
The acidity of a coffee is because of the farming region & in part impactged from the way a bean is processed and roasted. Brazilian, Peruvian, Kenyan and Ethiopian beans falls into this type. The coffees that are reduced in acidity, such as Sumatran, are cultivated at lower elevations.
Both coffee beans have a simple & balanced taste. Peruvian coffee is not as thick as Colombian, instead with a medium mouthfeel. Peruvian coffee is also medium in acidity and lacks the aromatic quality of a Colombian beans.
Arabica is the primary coffee farmed:
- 70% of which is Typica (Typica is an original Arabica strain which is a tall and leggy low yield shrub but provides great qualities, generally very sweet & clean);
- 20% is Caturra (Caturra is a natural mutation of the Bourbon coffee strain that was originally found in Brazil in 1937, thought to be the first naturally occurring mutation ever discovered); and
- the rest are other types.
About 75 percent of the coffee cultivation area lies at an altitude range of 1,000–1,800 m.
