Yirgacheffe coffee is a washed, wet-processed coffee produced in and around a small town in south Ethiopia, named Yirgacheffe. The coffee is cultivated at altitudes of between 1700 and 2200 meters ASL. Such elevations allow Yirga Cheffe coffee to be classified as Strictly High growth (SHG).

Such elevations hinder the fast growth of coffee. Because the coffee trees grow at a slow rate, they have more time to soak in all the nutrients in the soil. With the local climate, the Yirgacheffe also contributes a significant influence; the fruit can develop a more robust taste.
