Ethiopian coffee beans are coffee beans that are farmed in Ethiopia. Ethiopia has a extended history of coffee bean cultivation, one that dates back numerous centuries ago. It is the origin for one of the most popular strains of coffee, Coffea Arabica, known as Arabica coffee.

Ethiopian coffee beans comprise three 5 of the world coffee market. This clearly shows the importance that the Ethiopian coffee production regions have on global coffee consumption.

It is believed that, about one thousand years ago, a goat herder stumbled upon the coffee tree in Kaffa. Thus, the origin of coffee in Ethiopia is in Kaffa. Even the name is like Coffee.

Ethiopian coffee is known worldwide for the quality of flavour and the amount of refinement it has. However, why does Ethiopian coffee taste so great?

Ethiopian coffee, ostensibly, is known for its bright mouthfeels & the winery taste and quality it has. The coffee beans from this area are commonly of greater acidity & have complex tasting notes.

The major cause of the flavour that comes and is linked with Ethiopian coffee is the process used. Ethiopian coffee beans are processed naturally; they are dried while the cherry fruit is still attached to the coffee bean. Thus, the coffee beans develop winery tomes, & they commonly have a greater acidity than coffee beans from other regions.

A medium roasting will often give the best balance between body, flavours, & acidity for Ethiopian coffee. However, you can try out a bit to find that perfect roast since Ethiopian coffee beans are small and can be finicky, that can make it hard to roast them.

There are a wide range of Ethiopian coffee varieties. Ethiopian coffee is farmed in particular areas in the country; Harar, Limu, and Yirgacheffe. The climatic and soil characteristics of these regions are different, this affects the flavour of the coffee each location cultures.

The coffee types are mainly marketed as the areas that they are from.

These coffee types are Sidamo, Harar, and Genika.

Yirgacheffe coffee is a washed, wet-processed coffee produced in and nearby to a little village in southern Ethiopia, named Yirgacheffe. The coffee is cultivated at elevations inbetween 1700 and 2,200 meters ASL. Such altitudes allow Yirgacheffe coffee to be classified as Strictly Hard Bean (SHB).

Such elevations slow the rapid growth of coffee. Since the coffee plants grow at a reduced pace, they have increased time to soak in all the nutrients in the soil. With the local climate, the Yirgacheffe also contributes a large role; the berries can develop a more robust taste.

Ethiopian Yirgacheffe coffee is characterized by its light acidity and the clean and complex floral notes in its aroma. At times, the aroma may even have a hint of coconut. Some Ethiopian Yirgacheffe coffee types have notes of citrus and tangerine.

Yirgacheffe coffee is said to be the best coffee grown in the southern region of Ethiopia & also holds its own alongside other coffee types from other locations.

Single origin coffee is coffee that comes from a small and particular region in the world. Many coffee connoisseurs do insist that a single origin coffee is, in fact, better than other types of coffee as it is purer & more consistent in taste. This exclusivity makes single-source coffee more favouable.

Yirga Cheffe Coffee is, in fact, single source since it is only produced & prepared in the Yirgacheffe region. Which is the reason why it shows distinctive notes, aromas, and the feelings it induces.

Ethiopian coffee is Arabica. Ethiopia is the country the coffee Arabica, which is the coffee shrub, originates from. Now, it is produced in numerous regions across the globe, however Ethiopia still grows a lot of it. As stated earlier, Ethiopia produces three % of all the coffee in the world, which is pretty significant.

Ethiopian Harrar coffee is a wild and exotic naturally processed variety of Arabica coffee. It is mostly produced on botique farms located in the Oromia region, formally called Harrar. Thus, the coffee is eponymous.

Sidamo coffee is an Ethiopian coffee type grown exclusively in the Sidamo.

Sidamo is a large region in the fertile highlands in the Rift Valley. Sidamo is one of three trademarked coffee regions in Ethiopia (also with Harrar and Yirgacheffe). Sidamo coffee beans are known for their rich, full body and crisp acidity. They also have floral and citrus notes.

Ethiopian coffee has a mild and pleasant acidity, as well as a heavy winery and floral taste. The coffee also has a bright fruited taste. One is left with notes of blueberry, jasmine, and bergamot in the aftertaste.

The fruity tastes that characterise Ethiopian coffee can come across as sourness. This fact is proliferated when you switch to light coffee, like Ethiopian coffee, and you are used to the darker roasts.

It is strong. Even though Ethiopian coffee is so diverse, with a range of different taste profiles, a lot the coffee, particually from regions such as Sidamo & Limu, is complex and can prove strong, particually with nascent coffee drinkers.

This depends on the type of Ethiopian coffee you are consuming. The coffee {farmed|grown in some locations in Ethiopia are more acidic than others, so you have to check where the coffee is from. Apparently though, Ethiopian coffee is of mild acidity.

No, it does not. The vast majority of the Ethiopian coffee varieties are Coffee Arabica, which contains a coffee concentration of 1.5%. On the Contrary, Robusta coffee, the strongest coffee, has a caffeine content of 2.4%. Thus, Ethiopian coffee doesn’t have more caffeine than other varieties from other locations in the world.
