Ethiopian coffee beans are coffee beans that are farmed in Ethiopia. Ethiopia has a decorated history of coffee bean cultivation, one that goes back numerous centuries ago. Ethiopia is the origin to one of the most popular types of coffee, Coffea Arabica, commonly called as Arabica coffee.

Ethiopian coffee beans are processed naturally; they are dried while the cherry fruit is still attached to the coffee bean. There are a wide range of Ethiopian coffee types. Ethiopian coffee is grown in particular regions in the country; Harar, Limu, and Yirgacheffe. The climatic and soil conditions of these locations differ, which changes the taste of the coffee each location produces.

Yirgacheffe coffee is a washed, wet-processed coffee farmed in and nearby to a little village in southern Ethiopia, called Yirgacheffe. The coffee is cultivated at elevations of between 1,700 & 2,200 meters above sea level. Such altitudes allow Yirgacheffe coffee to be classified as Strictly High growth (SHG).

Such elevations reduce the fast growth of coffee. Because the coffee trees grow at a slower pace, they have increased time to soak in all the nutrients in the soil. With the local climate, the Yirga Cheffe also contributes a important influence; the fruit can develop a more robust taste.

Ethiopian Yirgacheffe coffee is characterized by its bright acidity and the clean & complex floral notes in its aroma. Sometimes, the aroma might even show a hint of coconut. Some Ethiopian Yirga Cheffe coffee varieties have notes of citrus & tangerine.

Yirgacheffe coffee is thought to be the best coffee produced in the south part of Ethiopia & also holds its own alongside other coffee types from other regions.
