Yirga Cheffe coffee is a washed, wet-processed coffee produced in and nearby to a small town in southern Ethiopia, called Yirgacheffe. The coffee is produced at elevations inbetween 1700 and 2,200 meters above sea level. Such altitudes allow Yirgacheffe coffee to be classified as Strictly High growth (SHG).

Such altitudes slow down the rapid growth of coffee. Because the coffee trees grow at a slow pace, they have more time to soak in all the nutrients in the soil. With the local climate, the Yirga Cheffe also plays a important role; the fruit can develop a more robust taste.

Ethiopian Yirga Cheffe coffee is characterized by its light acidity and the clean and complex floral notes in its aroma. Sometimes, the aroma may even have a hint of coconut. Some Ethiopian Yirga Cheffe coffee types exhibit notes of citrus and tangerine.

Yirgacheffe coffee is said to be the best coffee grown in the southern areas of Ethiopia and also holds its own alongside other coffee types from other locations.

Single origin coffee is coffee that is produced from a little & specific location in the world.
