FAQs

Colombian Coffee provides a mild acidity and a robust caramel sweetness, occationally with a nut undertone, similar to good quality Peruvian coffee beans. Colombian coffee beans have the most well known coffee flavour in North America, being sweet & medium-bodied.

It is possible to make strong Colombian coffee compared to non-Colombian coffee types. The strength of the coffee can be altered by the processing, roasting and brewing process. Thus, Colombian coffee is only strong if it is made to be strong.  Higher percentage of lower-quality beans produce a bitter coffee, but Colombian coffee maintains its taste integrity even when pushed via more rigorous and vigorous brewing methods.

Colombian coffee beans make a cup that is smooth, balanced, & light in body. There can be also overtones of fruit, almonds, & dark chocolate in the taste profile.

Colombian coffee beans are among one the finest in the world. Colombia has a long history of cultivating Arabica coffee beans, and the country’s specific topography makes it perfect for producing a tastey, high quality coffee bean. The coffee is renowned accross the globe for its flavour and the distinct mild but rich aroma that rises from each cup. That may explain why they have been cultivating coffee for ~200 years, & it’s been their leading export for most of that period.

Most people consider Costa Rican coffee as the best in Central America. Elevation classes are assigned to Costa Rican beans, with the best rated beans grown at the highest elevation. These beans are known as “strictly firm beans”.

In a small pot, bring water & panela to a boil. Panela is a product that is made with sugarcane, it is sweet and brown, is marketed in blocks or grated & the flavour is like that of brown sugar. Reduce heat to low & cook for 30 minutes, stir occationally to melt panela.

In a little French press, put the ground coffee beans. Pour Aguapanela (Aguapanela or Agua de Panela translates to “panela water”) over coffee until it gets to the brim of the French press.

Brew for 4 min, stirring once during the time. Push down the French press and pour the coffee right away.

Colombian coffee is best as a dark roast.  This due to the fuller, floral flavour, but light roasts made from Colombian beans are equally tasty. While keeping the bean’s taste, cocoa & caramel flavours are brought to the forefront. The flavours & smells of medium to dark roasts are stronger.

Colombian coffee’s cultivating conditions and processes make it thought to be the best by a lot of people, especially due to its distinct taste. Farmers of the Arabica beans produce tasty coffee with great quality at higher altitudes. They are then prepared natually on little farms by hand. The higher altitude makes for a nicer flavoured bean. Due to its favourable meteorological attributes, Colombia coffee is a rich, somewhat fruity, & chocolaty flavour.

The caffeine content of Colombian coffee is comparable to that of other coffee varieties. The caffeine content of a dark roast coffee is a little bit greater than that of a light roast coffee. The difference is minor and may go unnoticed. Depending on the sub-variety and amount of roasting, top quality Colombian Arabica coffee has 30-50 mg per each espresso serving & up to 200 milligrams in an 235ml (~8-ounce) cup.

Colombian beans are among the most well-known and popular in the world of coffee. They have a full-bodied flavour that is well-balanced. Guatemalan beans are more known for their robust & balanced tastes than for their particular taste profile. Guatemala coffee is also quite good coffee.

    • The hulling proceedure

Colombian coffee beans are dried under the sun over a few days or until the moisture content reaches around 10%. This aids in the bean’s drying & preps it for hulling. Sumatran coffee stays a lot less time in the sunshine. Sumatran coffee is hulled with substantially greater moisture amount, sometimes as high as 20%.

To remove the hulls, special wet hulling equipment is needed. The wet hulling equipment also allows the coffee beans to ferment, giving them a distinct flavor that you will not find anywhere.

    • Acidity and flavour

Colombian coffee has a well-balanced flavour and moderate acidity. This coffee has a bit of a bite to it, but it is not overly harsh. Because of its smooth flavour, several coffee connoisseurs consider Colombian coffee to be among the greatest in the world. Sumatran coffee has a much lower acidity level. This makes it one of the greatest coffees for acid sensitivity.

Sumatran coffee has a distinctive flavour. It has earthy undertones that set it apart from the competition. You will detect hints of bell pepper, mushrooms, and even herbs when drinking Sumatran coffee. The way the coffee is processed and the land in which it is grown contribute to this flavour.

The Colombian coffee region, is called the Coffee Triangle. It is a part of the Colombian Paisa area in the rural area of Colombia. It is famous for growing the largest amount of Colombian coffee.
