FAQs

Colombian Coffee provides a mild acidity & a robust caramel sweetness, sometimes with a nutty undertone, similar to good quality Peruvian coffees. Colombian coffee beans have the most identifiable coffee taste in North America, that of sweet and medium-bodied.

It is possible to make stronger Colombian coffee compared to non-Colombian coffee types. The strength of the coffee is determined by the processing, roasting & brewing methods. Thus, Colombian coffee is only strong if it is prepared to be strong.  Higher percentage of lower quality beans result in a bitter brew, yet Colombian coffee keeps its flavour profile even when pushed via more rigorous and vigorous brewing methods.

These coffee beans provide a taste that is smooth, balanced, & light in body. There are also overtones of fruit, almonds, and dark chocolate in the taste profile.

Colombian coffee is among one the finest anywhere. Colombia has a long history of producing Arabica beans, and their particular topography makes it ideal for making a delicious, high quality coffee bean. The coffee is renowned worldwide for its flavour & the distinct mild but rich aroma which comes from each cup. That may explain why they have been growing coffee for ~200 years, and it’s been their biggest export for the majority of that time.

Most people consider Costa Rican coffee as the best in Central America. Elevation classes are assigned to Costa Rican beans, with the best rated beans produced at the greatest altitude. These beans are named “strictly high grown”.

In a little saucepan, boil water and panela. Panela is a product that is produced from sugarcane, it is sweet and brown, is marketed in blocks or grated & the flavour is similar to that of brown sugar. Decrease heat to low & simmer for 30 min, stir occationally to melt panela.

In a little French press, place the ground coffee beans. Pour Aguapanela (Aguapanela or Agua de Panela translates to “panela water”) over coffee until it reaches the top of the French press.

Brew for 4 min, stirring only once. Plunge the French press & pour the coffee straight away.

Colombian coffee beans are most suited for a dark roast.  This as a result of the fuller, floral taste, but light roasts made from Colombian beans are just as tasty. While keeping the bean’s flavour, cocoa & caramel flavours are brought to the forefront. The tastes & smells of medium to dark roasts are stronger.

Colombian coffee’s growing conditions & processes make it considered to be the best by many people, especially because of its distinct flavour. Farmers of the Arabica beans produce flavourful coffee with outstanding quality at higher altitudes. They are then processed natually on little farms by hand. The high elevation produces a nicer flavoured bean. Due to its favourable meteorological attributes, Colombian coffee beans are a rich, somewhat fruity, & chocolaty taste.

The caffeine concentration of Colombian coffee is similar to that of other coffee types. The caffeine concentration of a dark roast coffee is a little bit more than that of a light roast coffee. The difference is minor & may go unnoticed. Depending on the sub-variety and amount of roasting, top quality Colombian Arabica coffee contains 30-50 milligrams per single espresso serving & up to 200 milligrams in an 235ml (~8-ounce) cup.

Colombian coffee beans are among the most renound and popular in the world of coffee. They have a full-bodied taste that is well-balanced. Guatemalan beans are more known for their robust and balanced tastes than for their particular flavour profile. Guatemala coffee is also quite good coffee.

    • The hulling process

Colombian coffee beans are dried benith the sun for a few days or until the moisture amount gets to around ten%. This helps in the bean’s drying & preps it for hulling. Sumatran coffee spends a lot less time in the sun. Sumatran coffee is hulled with significantly greater water amount, at times as high as twenty percent.

To remove the hulls, special wet hulling equipment is needed. The wet hulling equipment also allows the coffee beans to ferment, giving them a distinct flavor that you will not find anywhere.

    • Acidity and flavour

Colombian coffee has a well-balanced flavour and moderate acidity. This coffee has a bit of a bite to it, but it is not overly harsh. Because of its smooth flavour, several coffee connoisseurs consider Colombian coffee to be among the greatest in the world. Sumatran coffee has a much lower acidity level. This makes it one of the greatest coffees for acid sensitivity.

Sumatran coffee has a distinctive flavour. It has earthy undertones that set it apart from the competition. You will detect hints of bell pepper, mushrooms, and even herbs when drinking Sumatran coffee. The way the coffee is processed and the land in which it is grown contribute to this flavour.

The Colombian coffee region, is named the Coffee Triangle. It is a part of the Colombian Paisa region in the regional area of Colombia. It is renound for producing the biggest amount of Colombian coffee.
