FAQs

Colombian Coffee provides a mild acidity & a robust caramel sweetness, sometimes with a nutty undertone, similar to good quality Peruvian coffee. Colombian coffee beans have the most distinct coffee taste in North America, that of sweet & medium bodied.

It is possible to produce stronger Colombian coffee in comparison to other coffee. The strength of the coffee will depend on the processing, roasting and brewing process. Thus, Colombian coffee is just strong if it is prepared to be strong.  Increased percentage of lower-quality beans produce a bitter coffee, yet Colombian coffee keeps its flavour profile even when pushed via more rigorous & vigorous brewing processes.

These beans make a cup that is smooth, balanced, and light in body. There are also overtones of fruit, almonds, and dark chocolate in the flavour profile.

Colombian coffee is among one the best in the world. Colombia has a long history of culturing Arabica beans, & the country’s specific topography makes it perfect for making a delicious, high quality bean. The coffee is renowned accross the world for its flavour & the destinctive mild but rich aroma which comes from each cup. This could explain why they have been producing coffee for about 200 years, & it’s been their leading export for most of that period.

Many people consider Costa Rican coffee as the top one in Central America. Altitude ratings are given to Costa Rican beans, with the best rated beans produced at the highest elevation. These beans are referred to as “strictly firm beans”.

In a little saucepan, bring water and panela to a boil. Panela is a product that is made with sugarcane, it is sweet and brown, is marketed in blocks or grated and the taste is similar to that of brown sugar. Decrease heat to low and cook for 30 minutes, occasionally stirring to melt panela.

In a small French press, put the ground beans. Pour Aguapanela (Aguapanela or Agua de Panela translates to “panela water”) over coffee until it reaches the brim of the French press.

Brew for 4 min, stirring once during the time. Plunge the French press and pour the coffee straight away.

Colombian coffee is best as a dark roast.  This due to the fuller, floral flavour, but light roasts made from Colombian beans are equally delicious. While retaining the bean’s taste, cocoa and caramel flavours are brought to the forefront. The tastes & aromas of medium to dark roasts are stronger.

Colombian coffee’s cultivating conditions and processes make it considered to be the best by many people, especially because of its distinct flavour. Farmers of the Arabica beans produce flavourful coffee with great quality at higher altitudes. They are then naturally prepared on little farms by hand. The higher altitude produces a better tasting bean. Because of its favourable climatic conditions, Colombian coffee is a rich, somewhat fruity, and chocolaty taste.

The caffeine content of Colombian coffee is similar to that of other coffee varieties. The caffeine concentration of a dark roast coffee is a little bit greater than that of a light roast coffee. The difference is minor & may go unnoticed. Depending on the sub-variety & amount of roasting, high quality Colombian Arabica coffee has 30-50 mg per each espresso serving and up to 200 mg in an 235ml (~8-ounce) cup.

Colombian beans are among the most well-known and popular in the world of coffee. They have a full-bodied taste which is well-balanced. Guatemalan beans are more known for their robust and balanced tastes than for their particular flavour profile. Guatemala coffee is also quite good coffee.

    • The hulling proceedure

Colombian coffee beans are dried under the sun over a few days or until the water amount reaches about 10 percent. This helps in the bean’s drying and preps it for hulling. Sumatran coffee stays far less time in the sunshine. Sumatran coffee is hulled with substantially higher water content, sometimes as much as 20%.

To remove the hulls, special wet hulling equipment is needed. The wet hulling equipment also allows the coffee beans to ferment, giving them a distinct flavor that you will not find anywhere.

    • Acidity and flavour

Colombian coffee has a well-balanced flavour and moderate acidity. This coffee has a bit of a bite to it, but it is not overly harsh. Because of its smooth flavour, several coffee connoisseurs consider Colombian coffee to be among the greatest in the world. Sumatran coffee has a much lower acidity level. This makes it one of the greatest coffees for acid sensitivity.

Sumatran coffee has a distinctive flavour. It has earthy undertones that set it apart from the competition. You will detect hints of bell pepper, mushrooms, and even herbs when drinking Sumatran coffee. The way the coffee is processed and the land in which it is grown contribute to this flavour.
