FAQs

Colombian Coffee provides a mild acidity & a robust caramel sweetness, often with a nutty undertone, similar to good quality Peruvian coffee. They have the most well known coffee taste in North America, that of sweet and medium bodied.

It is possible to make stronger Colombian coffee compared to non-Colombian coffee. The strength of the coffee is determined by the processing, roasting & brewing process. Therefore, Colombian coffee is just strong if it is prepared to be stronger.  Higher percentage of low quality beans produce a bitter coffee, yet Colombian coffee maintains its taste profile even when pushed via more rigorous & vigorous brewing processes.

These beans make a flavour that is smooth, balanced, and light in body. There are also overtones of fruit, almonds, & dark chocolate in the flavour profile.

Colombian coffee beans are among one the finest anywhere. Colombia has a long history of growing Arabica beans, & their particular topography makes it perfect for producing a delicious, high quality bean. The coffee is known accross the globe for its taste and the distinct mild but rich aroma which comes from each cup. That could explain why they have been producing coffee for about 200 years, and it’s been their biggest export for the majority of that time.

Most people regard Costa Rican coffee as the best in Central America. Elevation ratings are given to Costa Rican beans, with the highest-rated beans grown at the greatest altitude. These beans are named “strictly high grown”.

In a small saucepan, bring water & panela to a boil. Panela is a product that is made with sugarcane, it is sweet and brown, is sold in blocks or grated & the taste is like that of brown sugar. Decrease heat to low & cook for 30 minutes, stir occationally to melt panela.

In a small French press, put the ground coffee. Pour Aguapanela (Aguapanela or Agua de Panela translates to “panela water”) over coffee until it gets to the top of the French press.

Brew for 4 min, stirring only once. Push down the French press and pour the coffee straight away.

Colombian coffee is most suited for a dark roast.  This because of the fuller, floral flavour, however light roasts made from Colombian beans are equally tasty. While keeping the bean’s taste, cocoa & caramel flavours are brought to the forefront. The tastes and smells of medium to dark roasts are stronger.

Colombian coffee’s growing conditions & processes make it considered to be the best by a lot of people, especially because of its distinct flavour. Farmers of the Arabica beans produce tasty coffee with excellent quality at higher altitudes. They are then processed natually on small farms by hand. The higher elevation produces a nicer flavoured bean. Due to its favourable climatic conditions, Colombian coffee is a rich, somewhat fruity, and chocolaty taste.

The caffeine content of Colombian coffee is similar to that of other coffee beans. The caffeine concentration of a dark roast coffee is a little bit greater than that of a light roast coffee. The difference is minor and may go unnoticed. Depending on the sub-variety and degree of roasting, high-quality Colombian Arabica coffee has 30-50 milligrams per single espresso serving & up to 200 milligrams in an 235ml (~8-ounce) cup.

Colombian beans are among the most renound & popular in the world of coffee. They have a full-bodied taste that is well-balanced. Guatemalan beans are more praised for their robust and balanced tastes than for their particular flavour profile. Guatemala coffee is also very tasty coffee.

    • The hulling process

Colombian coffee beans are dried under the sun for a few days or until the water amount gets to about ten percent. This aids in the bean’s drying and preps it for hulling. Sumatran coffee stays far less time in the sun. Sumatran coffee is hulled with substantially greater moisture amount, at times as much as 20%.

To remove the hulls, special wet hulling equipment is needed. The wet hulling equipment also allows the coffee beans to ferment, giving them a distinct flavor that you will not find anywhere.

    • Acidity and flavour

Colombian coffee has a well-balanced flavour and moderate acidity. This coffee has a bit of a bite to it, but it is not overly harsh. Because of its smooth flavour, several coffee connoisseurs consider Colombian coffee to be among the greatest in the world. Sumatran coffee has a much lower acidity level. This makes it one of the greatest coffees for acid sensitivity.

Sumatran coffee has a distinctive flavour. It has earthy undertones that set it apart from the competition. You will detect hints of bell pepper, mushrooms, and even herbs when drinking Sumatran coffee. The way the coffee is processed and the land in which it is grown contribute to this flavour.

The Colombian coffee area, is called the Coffee Triangle. It is a part of the Colombian Paisa region in the rural area of Colombia. It is famous for culturing the largest amount of Colombian coffee.
