FAQs

Colombian Coffee provides a mild acidity and a robust caramel sweetness, often with a nutty undertone, similar to good quality Peruvian coffee beans. Colombian coffee beans have the most well known coffee flavour in North America, being sweet and medium-bodied.

It is possible to produce strong Colombian coffee in comparison to non-Colombian coffee types. The strength of the coffee will depend on the processing, roasting and brewing methods. Thus, Colombian coffee is just strong if it is made to be strong.  Higher percentage of lower-quality beans result in a bitter brew, but Colombian coffee maintains its taste integrity even when pushed via more rigorous & vigorous brewing processes.

Colombian beans provide a drink that is smooth, balanced, & light in body. There are also overtones of fruit, almonds, and dark chocolate in the taste profile.

Colombian coffee beans are among one the finest in the world. Colombia has a long history of growing Arabica coffee beans, and the country’s particular topography makes it perfect for producing a tastey, top quality coffee bean. The coffee is known worldwide for its flavour and the destinctive mild but rich aroma that rises from each brew. This could explain why they have been cultivating coffee for ~200 years, and it’s been their leading export for most of that period.

Most people consider Costa Rican coffee as the top one in Central America. Elevation classes are assigned to Costa Rican beans, with the highest rated beans grown at the highest elevation. These beans are referred to as “strictly high grown”.

In a small pot, bring water & panela to a boil. Panela is a product that is produced from sugarcane, it is sweet and brown, is marketed in blocks or grated and the taste is similar to that of brown sugar. Reduce heat to low and simmer for 30 min, occasionally stirring to melt panela.

In a little French press, place the ground coffee beans. Pour Aguapanela (Aguapanela or Agua de Panela translates to “panela water”) over coffee until it gets to the top of the French press.

allow it to stand for 4 min, stirring once during the time. Push down the French press & pour the coffee straight away.

Colombian coffee is most suited for a dark roast.  This due to the fuller, floral flavour, however light roasts made from Colombian beans are equally flavourful. While keeping the bean’s taste, cocoa & caramel flavours are brought to the forefront. The flavours and aromas of medium to dark roasts are stronger.

Colombian coffee’s farming conditions & processes make it considered to be the best by many people, particually because of its distinct taste. Farmers of the Arabica beans produce tasty coffee with great quality at high elevations. They are then prepared natually on small farms by hand. The higher altitude produces a nicer tasting coffee bean. Due to its favourable meteorological conditions, Colombian coffee beans are a rich, somewhat fruity, & chocolaty taste.

The caffeine content of Colombian coffee is similar to that of other coffee beans. The caffeine concentration of a dark roast coffee is slightly higher than that of a light roast coffee. The difference is small & may not be noticable. Depending on the sub-variety & degree of roasting, top quality Colombian Arabica coffee has 30-50 milligrams per single espresso serving & up to 200 mg in an 235ml (~8-ounce) cup.

Colombian coffee beans are among the most well-known & popular in the world of coffee. They have a full-bodied taste that is well-balanced. Guatemalan beans are more praised for their robust and balanced flavours than for their particular flavour profile. Guatemala coffee is also very good coffee.

    • The hulling process

Colombian coffee beans are dried under the sun for a few days or until the water amount gets to about ten percent. This helps in the bean’s drying & prepares it for hulling. Sumatran coffee stays a lot less time in the sunshine. Sumatran coffee is hulled with significantly greater moisture amount, sometimes as high as twenty percent.

To remove the hulls, special wet hulling equipment is needed. The wet hulling equipment also allows the coffee beans to ferment, giving them a distinct flavor that you will not find anywhere.

    • Acidity and flavour

Colombian coffee has a well-balanced flavour and moderate acidity. This coffee has a bit of a bite to it, but it is not overly harsh. Because of its smooth flavour, several coffee connoisseurs consider Colombian coffee to be among the greatest in the world. Sumatran coffee has a much lower acidity level. This makes it one of the greatest coffees for acid sensitivity.

Sumatran coffee has a distinctive flavour. It has earthy undertones that set it apart from the competition. You will detect hints of bell pepper, mushrooms, and even herbs when drinking Sumatran coffee. The way the coffee is processed and the land in which it is grown contribute to this flavour.
