FAQs

Colombian Coffee provides a mild acidity & a robust caramel sweetness, often with a nut undertone, similar to good quality Peruvian coffee beans. They have the most well known coffee flavour in North America, that of sweet and medium-bodied.

It is possible to produce strong Colombian coffee compared to other coffee types. The strength of the coffee is determined by the processing, roasting and brewing methods. Therefore, Colombian coffee is just stronger if it is made to be stronger.  Increased amounts of lower quality beans make a bitter brew, but Colombian coffee keeps its flavour profile even when pushed via more rigorous and vigorous brewing processes.

Colombian beans make a taste that is smooth, balanced, & light in body. There are also overtones of fruit, almonds, & dark chocolate in the flavour profile.

Colombian coffee beans are among one the best on the globe. Colombia has a long history of culturing Arabica coffee, & their specific topography makes it ideal for making a tastey, high-quality beverage. The coffee is renowned accross the world for its taste and the distinct mild but rich aroma which comes from each cup. That may explain why they have been cultivating coffee for ~200 years, and it’s been their highest export for most of that period.

Most people consider Costa Rican coffee as the top one in Central America. Altitude ratings are assigned to Costa Rican beans, with the best rated beans grown at the highest elevation. These beans are named “strictly firm beans”.

In a small saucepan, bring water and panela to a boil. Panela is a product that is made from sugarcane, it is sweet and brown, is sold in blocks or grated & the taste is like that of brown sugar. Reduce heat to low & simmer for 30 min, stir occationally to melt panela.

In a little French press, put the ground coffee. Pour Aguapanela (Aguapanela or Agua de Panela translates to “panela water”) over coffee until it reaches the top of the French press.

Brew for four min, stirring only once. Push down the French press & pour the coffee right away.

Colombian coffee is best as a dark roast.  This because of the fuller, floral taste, but light roasts made from Colombian beans are equally delicious. While retaining the bean’s taste, cocoa & caramel flavours are brought to the forefront. The flavours & aromas of medium to dark roasts are stronger.

Colombian coffee’s cultivating conditions and processes make it thought to be the best by a lot of people, especially due to its distinct flavour. Farmers of the Arabica beans produce flavourful coffee with excellent quality at higher elevations. They are then processed natually on small farms by hand. The higher elevation produces a nicer flavoured bean. Because of its favourable meteorological characteristics, Colombia coffee is a rich, somewhat fruity, & chocolaty flavour.

The caffeine content of Colombian coffee is comparable to that of other coffee beans. The caffeine concentration of a dark roast coffee is slightly greater than that of a light roast coffee. The difference is small & may go unnoticed. Depending on the sub-variety and amount of roasting, top quality Colombian Arabica coffee has 30-50 mg per each espresso serving and up to 200 mg in an 235ml (~8-ounce) cup.

Colombian coffee beans are among the most renound and popular in the world of coffee. They have a full-bodied taste that is well-balanced. Guatemalan beans are more praised for their robust & balanced flavours than for their particular taste profile. Guatemala coffee is also quite good coffee.

    • The hulling proceedure

Colombian coffee beans are dried under the sun for a few days or until the water amount gets to about ten percent. This helps in the bean’s drying & preps it for hulling. Sumatran coffee stays far less time in the sun. Sumatran coffee is hulled with significantly greater water amount, at times as high as twenty percent.

To remove the hulls, special wet hulling equipment is needed. The wet hulling equipment also allows the coffee beans to ferment, giving them a distinct flavor that you will not find anywhere.

    • Acidity and flavour

Colombian coffee has a well-balanced flavour and moderate acidity. This coffee has a bit of a bite to it, but it is not overly harsh. Because of its smooth flavour, several coffee connoisseurs consider Colombian coffee to be among the greatest in the world. Sumatran coffee has a much lower acidity level. This makes it one of the greatest coffees for acid sensitivity.

Sumatran coffee has a distinctive flavour. It has earthy undertones that set it apart from the competition. You will detect hints of bell pepper, mushrooms, and even herbs when drinking Sumatran coffee. The way the coffee is processed and the land in which it is grown contribute to this flavour.

The Colombian coffee area, is called the Coffee Triangle. It is a part of the Colombian Paisa area in the regional area of Colombia. It is renound for producing the largest amount of Colombian coffee. There are four departments (which are the equivalent of States and Territories in Australia) in the area that are: Caldas, Quindío, Risaralda & Tolima.
