FAQs

Colombian Coffee provides a mild acidity and a robust caramel sweetness, occationally with a nut undertone, similar to good quality Peruvian coffee beans. They have the most distinct coffee flavour in North America, that of sweet & medium bodied.

It is possible to make strong Colombian coffee in comparison to other coffee types. The strength of the coffee is determined by the processing, roasting & brewing methods. Therefore, Colombian coffee is just stronger if it is made to be strong.  Higher proportions of lower-quality beans produce a bitter brew, yet Colombian coffee maintains its taste integrity even when pushed via more rigorous & vigorous brewing methods.

Colombian coffee beans produce a taste that is smooth, balanced, & light in body. There can be also overtones of fruit, almonds, and dark chocolate in the taste profile.

Colombian coffee is among one the best on the globe. Colombia has a long history of growing Arabica coffee beans, and their specific topography makes it ideal for making a delicious, high-quality bean. The coffee is known worldwide for its taste & the distinct mild but rich aroma that rises from each cup. This may explain why they have been cultivating coffee for ~200 years, and it’s been their highest export for most of that period.

Many people consider Costa Rican coffee as the top one in Central America. Elevation classes are given to Costa Rican beans, with the best rated beans cultivated at the highest elevation. These beans are called “strictly firm beans”.

In a small saucepan, bring water & panela to a boil. Panela is a product that is produced with sugarcane, it is sweet & brown, is marketed in blocks or grated and the taste is like that of brown sugar. Reduce heat to low & simmer for 30 minutes, stir occationally to melt panela.

In a tiny French press, put the ground coffee beans. Pour Aguapanela (Aguapanela or Agua de Panela translates to “panela water”) over coffee until it reaches the brim of the French press.

Brew for 4 min, stirring only once. Push down the French press and pour the coffee straight away.

Colombian coffee is most suited for a dark roast.  This due to the fuller, floral flavour, but light roasts made from Colombian beans are just as tasty. While keeping the bean’s taste, cocoa & caramel flavours are brought to the forefront. The tastes and smells of medium to dark roasts are stronger.

Colombian coffee’s growing conditions & processes make it thought to be the best by many people, particually because of its distinct flavour. Farmers of the Arabica beans produce flavourful coffee with excellent quality at higher elevations. They are then processed natually on little farms by hand. The high elevation makes for a nicer flavoured coffee bean. Because of its favourable meteorological characteristics, Colombian coffee is a rich, somewhat fruity, and chocolaty flavour.

The caffeine concentration of Colombian coffee is similar to that of other coffee types. The caffeine concentration of a dark roast coffee is a little bit more than that of a light roast coffee. The difference is minor and may go unnoticed. Depending on the sub-variety and degree of roasting, top quality Colombian Arabica coffee contains 30-50 milligrams per single espresso serving and up to 200 mg in an 235ml (~8-ounce) cup.

Colombian beans are among the most renound and popular in the world of coffee. They have a full-bodied taste which is well-balanced. Guatemalan beans are more praised for their robust & balanced flavours than for their particular flavour profile. Guatemala coffee is also very tasty coffee.

    • The hulling proceedure

Colombian coffee beans are dried under the sun for a few days or until the moisture amount reaches about ten percent. This aids in the bean’s drying & preps it for hulling. Sumatran coffee stays far less time in the sun. Sumatran coffee is hulled with significantly higher water amount, sometimes as high as 20 percent.

To remove the hulls, special wet hulling equipment is needed. The wet hulling equipment also allows the coffee beans to ferment, giving them a distinct flavor that you will not find anywhere.

    • Acidity and flavour

Colombian coffee has a well-balanced flavour and moderate acidity. This coffee has a bit of a bite to it, but it is not overly harsh. Because of its smooth flavour, several coffee connoisseurs consider Colombian coffee to be among the greatest in the world. Sumatran coffee has a much lower acidity level. This makes it one of the greatest coffees for acid sensitivity.

Sumatran coffee has a distinctive flavour. It has earthy undertones that set it apart from the competition. You will detect hints of bell pepper, mushrooms, and even herbs when drinking Sumatran coffee. The way the coffee is processed and the land in which it is grown contribute to this flavour.

The Colombian coffee area, is named the Coffee Triangle. It is a part of the Colombian Paisa region in the regional area of Colombia. It is famous for growing the biggest amount of Colombian coffee.
