FAQs

Colombian Coffee provides a mild acidity & a robust caramel sweetness, often with a nutty undertone, similar to higher-quality Peruvian coffee. Colombian coffee beans have the most identifiable coffee flavour in North America, that of sweet and medium bodied.

It is possible to make stronger Colombian coffee compared to non-Colombian coffee types. The strength of the coffee will depend on the processing, roasting and brewing methods. Thus, Colombian coffee is only stronger if it is made to be strong.  Higher proportions of lower-quality beans make a bitter coffee, but Colombian coffee keeps its taste integrity even when pushed via more rigorous and vigorous brewing processes.

Colombian beans produce a drink that is smooth, balanced, & light in body. There can be also overtones of fruit, almonds, & dark chocolate in the flavour profile.

Colombian coffee is among one the best anywhere. Colombia has a long history of producing Arabica coffee, & the country’s specific topography makes it ideal for making a delicious, high-quality beverage. The coffee is known accross the world for its flavour & the distinct mild but rich aroma which comes from each brew. This could explain why they have been producing coffee for ~200 years, and it’s been their highest export for most of that period.

Many people consider Costa Rican coffee as the best in Central America. Altitude ratings are given to Costa Rican beans, with the best rated beans farmed at the highest altitude. These beans are called “strictly high grown”.

In a small saucepan, boil water and panela. Panela is a product that is produced with sugarcane, it is sweet & brown, is sold in blocks or grated & the taste is similar to that of brown sugar. Reduce heat to low & simmer for 30 minutes, stir occationally to melt panela.

In a little French press, place the ground beans. Pour Aguapanela (Aguapanela or Agua de Panela translates to “panela water”) over coffee until it reaches the brim of the French press.

allow it to stand for 4 min, stirring only once. Plunge the French press & pour the coffee straight away.

Colombian coffee beans are best as a dark roast.  This because of the fuller, floral taste, but light roasts made from Colombian beans are equally delicious. While retaining the bean’s taste, cocoa & caramel flavours are brought to the forefront. The tastes & aromas of medium to dark roasts are stronger.

Colombian coffee’s cultivating conditions & processes make it considered to be the best by a lot of people, especially because of its distinct taste. Farmers of the Arabica beans produce tasty coffee with outstanding quality at higher elevations. They are then processed natually on small farms by hand. The higher elevation produces a better tasting bean. Because of its favourable climatic conditions, Colombian coffee is a rich, somewhat fruity, & chocolaty taste.

The caffeine content of Colombian coffee is comparable to that of other coffee varieties. The caffeine content of a dark roast coffee is slightly more than that of a light roast coffee. The difference is small & may not be noticable. Depending on the sub-variety & amount of roasting, high quality Colombian Arabica coffee has 30-50 mg per single espresso serving & up to 200 mg in an 235ml (~8-ounce) cup.

Colombian coffee beans are among the most renound & popular in the world of coffee. They have a full-bodied taste which is well-balanced. Guatemalan beans are more known for their robust and balanced flavours than for their particular flavour profile. Guatemala coffee is also quite good coffee.

    • The hulling process

Colombian coffee beans are dried benith the sun for a few days or until the moisture content gets to about 10 percent. This aids in the bean’s drying and prepares it for hulling. Sumatran coffee spends a lot less time in the sunshine. Sumatran coffee is hulled with significantly higher water content, at times as much as twenty percent.

To remove the hulls, special wet hulling equipment is needed. The wet hulling equipment also allows the coffee beans to ferment, giving them a distinct flavor that you will not find anywhere.

    • Acidity and flavour

Colombian coffee has a well-balanced flavour and moderate acidity. This coffee has a bit of a bite to it, but it is not overly harsh. Because of its smooth flavour, several coffee connoisseurs consider Colombian coffee to be among the greatest in the world. Sumatran coffee has a much lower acidity level. This makes it one of the greatest coffees for acid sensitivity.

Sumatran coffee has a distinctive flavour. It has earthy undertones that set it apart from the competition. You will detect hints of bell pepper, mushrooms, and even herbs when drinking Sumatran coffee. The way the coffee is processed and the land in which it is grown contribute to this flavour.

The Colombian coffee region, is named the Coffee Triangle. It is a part of the Colombian Paisa area in the rural area of Colombia. It is renound for producing the largest amount of Colombian coffee. There are four departments (which are the same as States and Territories in Australia) in the area that are: Caldas, Quindío, Risaralda & Tolima.
