FAQs

Colombian Coffee provides a mild acidity & a robust caramel sweetness, sometimes with a nutty undertone, similar to high quality Peruvian coffees. They have the most well known coffee flavour in North America, that of sweet and medium bodied.

It is possible to make stronger Colombian coffee compared to non-Colombian coffee. The strength of the coffee is influenced by the processing, roasting & brewing methods. Thus, Colombian coffee is only strong if it is made to be stronger.  Increased percentage of lower-quality beans make a bitter coffee, but Colombian coffee maintains its taste integrity even when pushed via more rigorous & vigorous brewing methods.

Colombian coffee beans make a flavour that is smooth, balanced, and light in body. There can be also overtones of fruit, almonds, & dark chocolate in the taste profile.

Colombian coffee beans are among one the best in the world. Colombia has a long history of growing Arabica coffee, and the country’s specific topography makes it perfect for making a tastey, high quality drink. The coffee is renowned accross the globe for its flavour & the destinctive mild but rich aroma which comes from each cup. This may explain why they have been cultivating coffee for ~200 years, and it’s been their biggest export for most of that period.

Most people regard Costa Rican coffee as the top one in Central America. Altitude ratings are given to Costa Rican beans, with the highest rated beans farmed at the greatest elevation. These beans are referred to as “strictly high grown”.

In a small saucepan, boil water and panela. Panela is a product that is made from sugarcane, it is sweet & brown, is marketed in blocks or grated & the flavour is like that of brown sugar. Reduce heat to low and simmer for 30 min, occasionally stirring to melt panela.

In a tiny French press, place the ground coffee. Pour Aguapanela (Aguapanela or Agua de Panela translates to “panela water”) over coffee until it gets to the brim of the French press.

Brew for 4 min, stirring once during the time. Plunge the French press and pour the coffee right away.

Colombian coffee is best as a dark roast.  This due to the fuller, floral taste, however light roasts made from Colombian beans are equally delicious. While retaining the bean’s taste, cocoa & caramel flavours are brought to the forefront. The flavours & aromas of medium to dark roasts are stronger.

Colombian coffee’s producing conditions and processes make it considered to be the best by many people, especially because of its distinct flavour. Farmers of the Arabica beans produce tasty coffee with excellent quality at high altitudes. They are then prepared natually on small farms by hand. The higher elevation produces a nicer tasting bean. Due to its favourable climatic characteristics, Colombian coffee beans are a rich, somewhat fruity, and chocolaty taste.

The caffeine content of Colombian coffee is comparable to that of other coffee varieties. The caffeine concentration of a dark roast coffee is slightly greater than that of a light roast coffee. The difference is minor and may go unnoticed. Depending on the sub-variety & amount of roasting, top quality Colombian Arabica coffee contains 30-50 mg per each espresso serving & up to 200 milligrams in an 235ml (~8-ounce) cup.

Colombian coffee beans are among the most well-known & popular in the world of coffee. They have a full-bodied flavour that is well-balanced. Guatemalan beans are more known for their robust and balanced flavours than for their particular taste profile. Guatemala coffee is also very tasty coffee.

    • The hulling proceedure

Colombian coffee beans are dried under the sun for a few days or until the moisture amount reaches about 10%. This aids in the bean’s drying and prepares it for hulling. Sumatran coffee spends far less time in the sunshine. Sumatran coffee is hulled with significantly greater moisture content, sometimes as high as twenty percent.

To remove the hulls, special wet hulling equipment is needed. The wet hulling equipment also allows the coffee beans to ferment, giving them a distinct flavor that you will not find anywhere.

    • Acidity and flavour

Colombian coffee has a well-balanced flavour and moderate acidity. This coffee has a bit of a bite to it, but it is not overly harsh. Because of its smooth flavour, several coffee connoisseurs consider Colombian coffee to be among the greatest in the world. Sumatran coffee has a much lower acidity level. This makes it one of the greatest coffees for acid sensitivity.

Sumatran coffee has a distinctive flavour. It has earthy undertones that set it apart from the competition. You will detect hints of bell pepper, mushrooms, and even herbs when drinking Sumatran coffee. The way the coffee is processed and the land in which it is grown contribute to this flavour.
