FAQs

Colombian Coffee exhibits a mild acidity and a robust caramel sweetness, occationally with a nutty undertone, similar to high quality Peruvian beans. Colombian coffee beans have the most well known coffee flavour in North America, being sweet & medium bodied.

It is possible to make stronger Colombian coffee in comparison to non-Colombian coffee. The strength of the coffee will depend on the processing, roasting & brewing methods. Thus, Colombian coffee is only strong if it is made to be strong.  Increased percentage of low quality beans produce a bitter coffee, but Colombian coffee maintains its taste profile even when pushed via more rigorous & vigorous brewing methods.

These beans provide a taste that is smooth, balanced, and light in body. There are also overtones of fruit, almonds, and dark chocolate in the taste profile.

Colombian coffee beans are among one the best on the globe. Colombia has a long history of culturing Arabica coffee, and the country’s particular topography makes it perfect for making a delicious, high quality coffee bean. The coffee is known accross the world for its flavour & the destinctive mild but rich aroma which rises from each brew. This could explain why they have been cultivating coffee for ~200 years, and it’s been their leading export for most of that period.

Many people regard Costa Rican coffee as the top one in Central America. Elevation classes are given to Costa Rican beans, with the highest rated beans cultivated at the greatest elevation. These beans are known as strictly hard beans”.

In a little saucepan, boil water and panela. Panela is a product that is produced with sugarcane, it is sweet and brown, is marketed in blocks or grated & the flavour is similar to that of brown sugar. Decrease heat to low and simmer for 30 minutes, stir occationally to melt panela.

In a small French press, put the ground coffee beans. Pour Aguapanela (Aguapanela or Agua de Panela translates to “panela water”) over coffee until it reaches the brim of the French press.

Brew for 4 minutes, stirring only once. Push down the French press and pour the coffee straight away.

Colombian coffee is most suited for a dark roast.  This as a result of the fuller, floral flavour, but light roasts made from Colombian beans are equally delicious. While keeping the bean’s taste, cocoa and caramel flavours are brought to the forefront. The flavours & smells of medium to dark roasts are stronger.

Colombian coffee’s farming conditions and processes make it considered to be the best by a lot of people, particually due to its distinct flavour. Farmers of the Arabica beans produce tasty coffee with great quality at higher elevations. They are then prepared natually on little farms by hand. The higher elevation produces a nicer flavoured coffee bean. Because of its favourable meteorological conditions, Colombia coffee is a rich, somewhat fruity, and chocolaty flavour.

The caffeine concentration of Colombian coffee is comparable to that of other coffees. The caffeine content of a dark roast coffee is slightly more than that of a light roast coffee. The difference is minor and may not be noticable. Depending on the sub-variety and amount of roasting, high quality Colombian Arabica coffee contains 30-50 milligrams per each espresso serving and up to 200 mg in an 235ml (~8-ounce) cup.

Colombian coffee beans are among the most well-known and popular in the world of coffee. They have a full-bodied taste which is well-balanced. Guatemalan beans are more praised for their robust and balanced flavours than for their particular flavour profile. Guatemala coffee is also quite tasty coffee.

    • The hulling process

Colombian coffee beans are dried under the sun over a few days or until the water amount gets to around ten%. This helps in the bean’s drying and prepares it for hulling. Sumatran coffee spends a lot less time in the sun. Sumatran coffee is hulled with significantly higher water content, at times as high as twenty percent.

To remove the hulls, special wet hulling equipment is needed. The wet hulling equipment also allows the coffee beans to ferment, giving them a distinct flavor that you will not find anywhere.

    • Acidity and flavour

Colombian coffee has a well-balanced flavour and moderate acidity. This coffee has a bit of a bite to it, but it is not overly harsh. Because of its smooth flavour, several coffee connoisseurs consider Colombian coffee to be among the greatest in the world. Sumatran coffee has a much lower acidity level. This makes it one of the greatest coffees for acid sensitivity.

Sumatran coffee has a distinctive flavour. It has earthy undertones that set it apart from the competition. You will detect hints of bell pepper, mushrooms, and even herbs when drinking Sumatran coffee. The way the coffee is processed and the land in which it is grown contribute to this flavour.

The Colombian coffee region, is called the Coffee Triangle. It is a part of the Colombian Paisa region in the rural area of Colombia. It is renound for culturing the majority of Colombian coffee. There are four departments (that are the equivalent of States and Territories in Australia) in the area which are: Caldas, Quindío, Risaralda & Tolima.
