FAQs

Colombian Coffee has a mild acidity and a robust caramel sweetness, possibly with a nut undertone, similar to good quality Peruvian coffee. They have the most distinct coffee taste in North America, that of sweet and medium-bodied.

It is possible to make strong Colombian coffee in comparison to non-Colombian coffee. The strength of the coffee can be altered by the processing, roasting and brewing process. Thus, Colombian coffee is just strong if it is made to be strong.  Higher amounts of low quality beans result in a bitter coffee, but Colombian coffee keeps its taste integrity even when pushed via more rigorous and vigorous brewing methods.

These beans provide a cup that is smooth, balanced, and light in body. There are also overtones of fruit, almonds, and dark chocolate in the flavour profile.

Colombian coffee beans are among one the finest on the globe. Colombia has a long history of culturing Arabica beans, & their specific topography makes it perfect for producing a delicious, high-quality bean. The coffee is renowned accross the globe for its flavour and the destinctive mild but rich aroma which rises from each brew. That could explain why they have been growing coffee for about 200 years, & it’s been their biggest export for most of that period.

Many people consider Costa Rican coffee as the top one in Central America. Altitude ratings are given to Costa Rican beans, with the highest rated beans cultivated at the highest altitude. These beans are known as “strictly firm beans”.

In a little saucepan, bring water & panela to a boil. Panela is a product that is produced from sugarcane, it is sweet and brown, is marketed in blocks or grated & the taste is like that of brown sugar. Reduce heat to low and cook for 30 minutes, stir occationally to melt panela.

In a small French press, place the ground coffee. Pour Aguapanela (Aguapanela or Agua de Panela translates to “panela water”) over coffee until it gets to the top of the French press.

Brew for 4 min, stirring only once. Plunge the French press and pour the coffee right away.

Colombian coffee is best as a dark roast.  This because of the fuller, floral taste, but light roasts made from Colombian beans are just as delicious. While keeping the bean’s taste, cocoa and caramel flavours are brought to the forefront. The flavours & aromas of medium to dark roasts are stronger.

Colombian coffee’s producing conditions & processes make it considered to be the best by many people, particually due to its distinct taste. Farmers of the Arabica beans produce tasty coffee with outstanding quality at higher elevations. They are then prepared natually on little farms by hand. The higher elevation makes for a better tasting bean. Because of its favourable climatic characteristics, Colombian coffee beans are a rich, somewhat fruity, & chocolaty flavour.

The caffeine concentration of Colombian coffee is comparable to that of other coffee varieties. The caffeine content of a dark roast coffee is slightly greater than that of a light roast coffee. The difference is small & may not be noticable. Depending on the sub-variety & degree of roasting, high quality Colombian Arabica coffee has 30-50 milligrams per single espresso serving and up to 200 mg in an 235ml (~8-ounce) cup.

Colombian beans are among the most well-known & popular in the world of coffee. They have a full-bodied taste which is well-balanced. Guatemalan beans are more praised for their robust & balanced flavours than for their particular taste profile. Guatemala coffee is also quite good coffee.

    • The hulling process

Colombian coffee beans are dried under the sun over a few days or until the moisture amount reaches around ten percent. This aids in the bean’s drying & preps it for hulling. Sumatran coffee spends far less time in the sunshine. Sumatran coffee is hulled with substantially higher moisture content, at times as high as 20%.

To remove the hulls, special wet hulling equipment is needed. The wet hulling equipment also allows the coffee beans to ferment, giving them a distinct flavor that you will not find anywhere.

    • Acidity and flavour

Colombian coffee has a well-balanced flavour and moderate acidity. This coffee has a bit of a bite to it, but it is not overly harsh. Because of its smooth flavour, several coffee connoisseurs consider Colombian coffee to be among the greatest in the world. Sumatran coffee has a much lower acidity level. This makes it one of the greatest coffees for acid sensitivity.

Sumatran coffee has a distinctive flavour. It has earthy undertones that set it apart from the competition. You will detect hints of bell pepper, mushrooms, and even herbs when drinking Sumatran coffee. The way the coffee is processed and the land in which it is grown contribute to this flavour.

The Colombian coffee region, is named the Coffee Triangle. It is a part of the Colombian Paisa area in the rural area of Colombia. It is famous for culturing the most of Colombian coffee.
