FAQs

Colombian Coffee provides a mild acidity and a robust caramel sweetness, often with a nut undertone, similar to good quality Peruvian coffees. Colombian coffee beans have the most well known coffee taste in North America, being sweet and medium bodied.

It is possible to make strong Colombian coffee compared to non-Colombian coffee types. The strength of the coffee is determined by the processing, roasting & brewing process. Therefore, Colombian coffee is just stronger if it is prepared to be strong.  Increased proportions of lower quality beans make a bitter coffee, but Colombian coffee maintains its flavour profile even when pushed via more rigorous and vigorous brewing methods.

These coffee beans provide a flavour that is smooth, balanced, & light in body. There can be also overtones of fruit, almonds, & dark chocolate in the taste profile.

Colombian coffee is among one the best anywhere. Colombia has a long history of farming Arabica coffee beans, & the country’s particular topography makes it perfect for producing a delicious, high quality bean. The coffee is known accross the world for its flavour & the destinctive mild but rich aroma which rises from each cup. This may explain why they have been growing coffee for about 200 years, & it’s been their biggest export for the majority of that period.

Most people regard Costa Rican coffee as the top one in Central America. Elevation ratings are given to Costa Rican beans, with the highest rated beans grown at the highest altitude. These beans are known as “strictly high grown”.

In a small saucepan, boil water and panela. Panela is a product that is produced with sugarcane, it is sweet and brown, is marketed in blocks or grated & the flavour is like that of brown sugar. Reduce heat to low & simmer for 30 min, stir occationally to melt panela.

In a small French press, put the ground coffee. Pour Aguapanela (Aguapanela or Agua de Panela translates to “panela water”) over coffee until it reaches the top of the French press.

Brew for four minutes, stirring only once. Push down the French press and pour the coffee straight away.

Colombian coffee is most suited for a dark roast.  This due to the fuller, floral taste, but light roasts made from Colombian beans are just as delicious. While retaining the bean’s flavour, cocoa and caramel flavours are brought to the forefront. The flavours & aromas of medium to dark roasts are stronger.

Colombian coffee’s producing conditions & processes make it considered to be the best by many people, especially because of its distinct taste. Farmers of the Arabica beans produce tasty coffee with excellent quality at high altitudes. They are then naturally prepared on little farms by hand. The higher elevation produces a nicer tasting coffee bean. Because of its favourable climatic attributes, Colombian coffee is a rich, somewhat fruity, and chocolaty flavour.

The caffeine concentration of Colombian coffee is comparable to that of other coffee beans. The caffeine content of a dark roast coffee is a little bit greater than that of a light roast coffee. The difference is minor and may go unnoticed. Depending on the sub-variety and amount of roasting, high-quality Colombian Arabica coffee has 30-50 mg per single espresso serving and up to 200 milligrams in an 235ml (~8-ounce) cup.

Colombian beans are among the most well-known and popular in the world of coffee. They have a full-bodied taste that is well-balanced. Guatemalan beans are more known for their robust & balanced tastes than for their particular taste profile. Guatemala coffee is also quite tasty coffee.

    • The hulling proceedure

Colombian coffee beans are dried under the sun over a few days or until the moisture content gets to about ten percent. This aids in the bean’s drying & prepares it for hulling. Sumatran coffee spends far less time in the sunshine. Sumatran coffee is hulled with a lot higher moisture amount, sometimes as much as twenty percent.

To remove the hulls, special wet hulling equipment is needed. The wet hulling equipment also allows the coffee beans to ferment, giving them a distinct flavor that you will not find anywhere.

    • Acidity and flavour

Colombian coffee has a well-balanced flavour and moderate acidity. This coffee has a bit of a bite to it, but it is not overly harsh. Because of its smooth flavour, several coffee connoisseurs consider Colombian coffee to be among the greatest in the world. Sumatran coffee has a much lower acidity level. This makes it one of the greatest coffees for acid sensitivity.

Sumatran coffee has a distinctive flavour. It has earthy undertones that set it apart from the competition. You will detect hints of bell pepper, mushrooms, and even herbs when drinking Sumatran coffee. The way the coffee is processed and the land in which it is grown contribute to this flavour.

The Colombian coffee region, is named the Coffee Triangle. It is a part of the Colombian Paisa region in the rural area of Colombia. It is renound for producing the biggest amount of Colombian coffee.
