FAQs

Colombian Coffee exhibits a mild acidity and a robust caramel sweetness, possibly with a nut undertone, similar to good quality Peruvian coffee beans. Colombian coffee beans have the most identifiable coffee flavour in North America, that of sweet and medium bodied.

It is possible to produce stronger Colombian coffee compared to other coffee. The strength of the coffee will depend on the processing, roasting and brewing methods. Therefore, Colombian coffee is only strong if it is made to be stronger.  Increased amounts of lower-quality beans result in a bitter coffee, but Colombian coffee maintains its taste integrity even when pushed via more rigorous & vigorous brewing processes.

These beans make a taste that is smooth, balanced, and light in body. There can be also overtones of fruit, almonds, & dark chocolate in the taste profile.

Colombian coffee is among one the best on the globe. Colombia has a long history of producing Arabica beans, and the country’s specific topography makes it perfect for making a delicious, top quality coffee bean. The coffee is renowned accross the globe for its flavour and the distinct mild but rich aroma that rises from each cup. This could explain why they have been exporting coffee for ~200 years, and it’s been their biggest export for the majority of that period.

Many people regard Costa Rican coffee as the top one in Central America. Altitude ratings are assigned to Costa Rican beans, with the best rated beans cultivated at the greatest altitude. These beans are known as strictly hard beans”.

In a small pot, boil water and panela. Panela is a product that is produced with sugarcane, it is sweet and brown, is marketed in blocks or grated & the flavour is like that of brown sugar. Reduce heat to low and simmer for 30 min, occasionally stirring to melt panela.

In a small French press, put the ground beans. Pour Aguapanela (Aguapanela or Agua de Panela translates to “panela water”) over coffee until it reaches the brim of the French press.

Brew for four min, stirring once during the time. Plunge the French press & pour the coffee straight away.

Colombian coffee is most suited for a dark roast.  This due to the fuller, floral flavour, however light roasts made from Colombian beans are just as tasty. While retaining the bean’s flavour, cocoa & caramel flavours are brought to the forefront. The flavours and aromas of medium to dark roasts are stronger.

Colombian coffee’s cultivating conditions & processes make it considered to be the best by many people, especially because of its distinct taste. Farmers of the Arabica beans produce tasty coffee with outstanding quality at higher elevations. They are then naturally prepared on small farms by hand. The higher elevation makes for a better flavoured bean. Because of its favourable meteorological characteristics, Colombian coffee beans are a rich, somewhat fruity, & chocolaty flavour.

The caffeine content of Colombian coffee is similar to that of other coffee varieties. The caffeine concentration of a dark roast coffee is a little bit higher than that of a light roast coffee. The difference is minor and may not be noticable. Depending on the sub-variety and amount of roasting, high quality Colombian Arabica coffee has 30-50 mg per each espresso serving & up to 200 milligrams in an 235ml (~8-ounce) cup.

Colombian coffee beans are among the most well-known & popular in the world of coffee. They have a full-bodied taste which is well-balanced. Guatemalan beans are more known for their robust & balanced tastes than for their particular taste profile. Guatemala coffee is also quite tasty coffee.

    • The hulling process

Colombian coffee beans are dried benith the sun over a few days or until the moisture content gets to around ten percent. This aids in the bean’s drying and preps it for hulling. Sumatran coffee spends a lot less time in the sun. Sumatran coffee is hulled with significantly higher moisture content, sometimes as high as 20%.

To remove the hulls, special wet hulling equipment is needed. The wet hulling equipment also allows the coffee beans to ferment, giving them a distinct flavor that you will not find anywhere.

    • Acidity and flavour

Colombian coffee has a well-balanced flavour and moderate acidity. This coffee has a bit of a bite to it, but it is not overly harsh. Because of its smooth flavour, several coffee connoisseurs consider Colombian coffee to be among the greatest in the world. Sumatran coffee has a much lower acidity level. This makes it one of the greatest coffees for acid sensitivity.

Sumatran coffee has a distinctive flavour. It has earthy undertones that set it apart from the competition. You will detect hints of bell pepper, mushrooms, and even herbs when drinking Sumatran coffee. The way the coffee is processed and the land in which it is grown contribute to this flavour.
