FAQs
Colombian Coffee has a mild acidity & a robust caramel sweetness, sometimes with a nutty undertone, similar to good quality Peruvian coffee. Colombian coffee beans have the most well known coffee flavour in North America, being sweet & medium bodied.
It is possible to make strong Colombian coffee compared to non-Colombian coffee types. The strength of the coffee will depend on the processing, roasting and brewing methods. Therefore, Colombian coffee is just strong if it is made to be stronger. Increased amounts of low quality beans produce a bitter brew, yet Colombian coffee maintains its taste integrity even when pushed via more rigorous and vigorous brewing processes.
Colombian coffee beans produce a cup that is smooth, balanced, & light in body. There are also overtones of fruit, almonds, & dark chocolate in the flavour profile.
Colombian coffee is among one the finest anywhere. Colombia has a long history of producing Arabica coffee beans, & their specific topography makes it perfect for making a delicious, high quality beverage. The coffee is renowned accross the globe for its taste & the distinct mild but rich aroma which rises from each brew. This could explain why they have been growing coffee for about 200 years, & it’s been their leading export for most of that period.
Many people regard Costa Rican coffee as the best in Central America. Altitude classes are given to Costa Rican beans, with the best rated beans cultivated at the highest altitude. These beans are named “strictly firm beans”.
In a small saucepan, bring water and panela to a boil. Panela is a product that is made with sugarcane, it is sweet and brown, is sold in blocks or grated and the flavour is like that of brown sugar. Reduce heat to low and simmer for 30 min, occasionally stirring to melt panela.
In a small French press, place the ground coffee beans. Pour Aguapanela (Aguapanela or Agua de Panela translates to “panela water”) over coffee until it gets to the top of the French press.
allow it to stand for 4 minutes, stirring once during the time. Push down the French press and pour the coffee straight away.
Colombian coffee beans are best as a dark roast. This because of the fuller, floral taste, but light roasts made from Colombian beans are equally delicious. While keeping the bean’s taste, cocoa and caramel flavours are brought to the forefront. The tastes and smells of medium to dark roasts are stronger.
Colombian coffee’s cultivating conditions and processes make it thought to be the best by many people, particually because of its distinct taste. Farmers of the Arabica beans produce flavourful coffee with outstanding quality at higher altitudes. They are then prepared natually on small farms by hand. The high elevation makes for a nicer tasting coffee bean. Due to its favourable meteorological conditions, Colombia coffee beans are a rich, somewhat fruity, and chocolaty flavour.
The caffeine concentration of Colombian coffee is similar to that of other coffee beans. The caffeine concentration of a dark roast coffee is a little bit greater than that of a light roast coffee. The difference is small & may go unnoticed. Depending on the sub-variety & amount of roasting, top quality Colombian Arabica coffee contains 30-50 mg per each espresso serving & up to 200 milligrams in an 235ml (~8-ounce) cup.
Colombian beans are among the most well-known and popular in the world of coffee. They have a full-bodied flavour that is well-balanced. Guatemalan beans are more praised for their robust & balanced tastes than for their particular taste profile. Guatemala coffee is also very good coffee.
- The hulling process
Colombian coffee beans are dried benith the sun over a few days or until the water amount gets to around 10%. This helps in the bean’s drying and preps it for hulling. Sumatran coffee stays far less time in the sun. Sumatran coffee is hulled with a lot higher water amount, sometimes as much as twenty percent.
To remove the hulls, special wet hulling equipment is needed. The wet hulling equipment also allows the coffee beans to ferment, giving them a distinct flavor that you will not find anywhere.
- Acidity and flavour
Colombian coffee has a well-balanced flavour and moderate acidity. This coffee has a bit of a bite to it, but it is not overly harsh. Because of its smooth flavour, several coffee connoisseurs consider Colombian coffee to be among the greatest in the world. Sumatran coffee has a much lower acidity level. This makes it one of the greatest coffees for acid sensitivity.
Sumatran coffee has a distinctive flavour. It has earthy undertones that set it apart from the competition. You will detect hints of bell pepper, mushrooms, and even herbs when drinking Sumatran coffee. The way the coffee is processed and the land in which it is grown contribute to this flavour.
