FAQs

Colombian Coffee has a mild acidity & a robust caramel sweetness, often with a nut undertone, similar to good quality Peruvian coffees. Colombian coffee beans have the most identifiable coffee flavour in North America, being sweet & medium-bodied.

It is possible to make stronger Colombian coffee compared to other coffee. The strength of the coffee is determined by the processing, roasting & brewing methods. Therefore, Colombian coffee is only stronger if it is prepared to be stronger.  Higher percentage of lower-quality beans produce a bitter coffee, yet Colombian coffee maintains its flavour profile even when pushed via more rigorous and vigorous brewing methods.

Colombian coffee beans produce a taste that is smooth, balanced, & light in body. There are also overtones of fruit, almonds, & dark chocolate in the flavour profile.

Colombian coffee beans are among one the finest in the world. Colombia has a long history of growing Arabica beans, & their particular topography makes it perfect for producing a tastey, top quality beverage. The coffee is renowned worldwide for its taste and the destinctive mild but rich aroma which comes from each brew. That could explain why they have been exporting coffee for about 200 years, & it’s been their biggest export for most of that period.

Most people consider Costa Rican coffee as the best in Central America. Altitude classes are given to Costa Rican beans, with the highest rated beans produced at the greatest altitude. These beans are referred to as “strictly high grown”.

In a little saucepan, boil water and panela. Panela is a product that is produced from sugarcane, it is sweet & brown, is sold in blocks or grated and the taste is like that of brown sugar. Reduce heat to low and cook for 30 min, stir occationally to melt panela.

In a small French press, place the ground coffee beans. Pour Aguapanela (Aguapanela or Agua de Panela translates to “panela water”) over coffee until it gets to the top of the French press.

Brew for four minutes, stirring once during the time. Plunge the French press & pour the coffee right away.

Colombian coffee is most suited for a dark roast.  This as a result of the fuller, floral taste, but light roasts made from Colombian beans are equally delicious. While keeping the bean’s flavour, cocoa and caramel flavours are brought to the forefront. The flavours & aromas of medium to dark roasts are stronger.

Colombian coffee’s farming conditions and processes make it considered to be the best by a lot of people, especially due to its distinct taste. Farmers of the Arabica beans produce flavourful coffee with great quality at high altitudes. They are then naturally processed on little farms by hand. The high altitude produces a better tasting bean. Because of its favourable meteorological conditions, Colombian coffee beans are a rich, somewhat fruity, and chocolaty flavour.

The caffeine content of Colombian coffee is comparable to that of other coffee beans. The caffeine concentration of a dark roast coffee is slightly more than that of a light roast coffee. The difference is small and may not be noticable. Depending on the sub-variety & degree of roasting, high quality Colombian Arabica coffee has 30-50 milligrams per single espresso serving and up to 200 mg in an 235ml (~8-ounce) cup.

Colombian coffee beans are among the most well-known and popular in the world of coffee. They have a full-bodied taste which is well-balanced. Guatemalan beans are more known for their robust and balanced flavours than for their particular flavour profile. Guatemala coffee is also quite tasty coffee.

    • The hulling process

Colombian coffee beans are dried benith the sun over a few days or until the moisture content reaches around ten%. This aids in the bean’s drying & preps it for hulling. Sumatran coffee spends a lot less time in the sun. Sumatran coffee is hulled with substantially greater moisture content, sometimes as high as 20%.

To remove the hulls, special wet hulling equipment is needed. The wet hulling equipment also allows the coffee beans to ferment, giving them a distinct flavor that you will not find anywhere.

    • Acidity and flavour

Colombian coffee has a well-balanced flavour and moderate acidity. This coffee has a bit of a bite to it, but it is not overly harsh. Because of its smooth flavour, several coffee connoisseurs consider Colombian coffee to be among the greatest in the world. Sumatran coffee has a much lower acidity level. This makes it one of the greatest coffees for acid sensitivity.

Sumatran coffee has a distinctive flavour. It has earthy undertones that set it apart from the competition. You will detect hints of bell pepper, mushrooms, and even herbs when drinking Sumatran coffee. The way the coffee is processed and the land in which it is grown contribute to this flavour.

The Colombian coffee region, is called the Coffee Triangle. It is a part of the Colombian Paisa area in the rural area of Colombia. It is famous for growing the biggest amount of Colombian coffee.
