History of coffee in Central America

Mexico
Coffee was initially brought to Mexico in the late seventeen hundreds from Cuba & the Dominican Republic. The nation had a quick turnaround with the cropit production, exporting coffee beans industrially initially as early as 1802.

Costa Rica

Coffee plants came to El Salvador in the mid-1700’s, but really took off once indigo farms declined due to synthetic dyes in the 1800’s. By 1970, coffee production made up for 50% of the nation’s GDP.
