History of coffee in Central America

Mexico
Coffee was first imported to Mexico in the late seventeen hundreds originating from Cuba & the Dominican Republic. The nation had a quick turnaround with the cropit production, exporting coffee beans commercially for the first time as early as 1802.

Costa Rica
Costa Rica was the first nation in the region to {haveestablish} a fully functional industrial coffee market. It became a important producer of coffee throughout the {globe|world{ by the 1820’s.

El Salvador
El Salvador is the littlest nation in Central America. It is not supprising that El Salvador’s coffee market is not huge.

Coffee came to El Salvador in the mid-1700’s, but really gained popularity after indigo farms lost steam to synthetic dyes in the 1800’s. By 1970, coffee production made up for 50% of the country’s Gross Domestic Product.
