Mexico
Coffee plants were first brought to Mexico in the late seventeen hundreds from Cuba and the Dominican Republic. Mexico made a fast turnaround with the cropit production, exporting beans industrially initially as early as 1802.

Costa Rica
Costa Rica was the first nation in the region to {haveestablish} a fully operating commercial coffee market. It became a major producer of coffee around the {globe|world{ by the 1820’s.

Since the launch of the organization Instituto del Café de Costa Rica in 1933, Coffee in Costa Rica has boomed and in shown excellent quality. However, Costa Rica only cultivates less than 1% of the {globe’sworld’s} coffee beans.

Costa Rica has some of the toughest and highest standards for farm workers.

Guatemala
Like with most of Central America, Guatemala got coffee plants in the latter part of the 1700’s. But, unlike Mexico, commercial exporting did not really take off until the 1860’s when European migrants launched large-scale coffee plantations.

Honduras
It is unclear specifically when coffee was brought to Honduras. It’s probable that it was in the late 1700’s, like with other Central American countries, however there’s not a specific record. Several sources state 1804 as the first year that coffee was produced at major scale.

Since then, Honduras became the biggest coffee farmer in Central America.

El Salvador
El Salvador is the littlest country in Central America. It is not supprising that El Salvador’s coffee market is not massive.

Coffee arrived at El Salvador in the mid-1700’s, but really took off after indigo farms lost steam to synthetic dyes in the 1800’s. By 1970, coffee farming made up for 50% of the country’s GDP.
