Arabica beans are grown in many countries around the globe. Brazil is the biggest producer of Arabica.  Even though Arabica is farmed in many nations, each country & area will produce a distinct flavour from what is basically the same coffee plant due to their different climates, soils, altitudes, processing methods among other aspects.

Arabica coffee beans are from the Coffea arabica plant that are usually know as “mountain coffee” or “arabica coffee”. Arabica coffee makes up approximatly 60% of the global coffee bean supply.

The flavour of Arabica beans changes depending on the location, they are typically sweet with notes of coco & sugar. They can also have fruit or berry tasts & may show hints of cereal or nuts.

Arabica tends to display more acidity & less bitterness than Robusta beans that are typically stronger, harsher & may display grainy or rubbery overtones.

Most people find the flavour of Arabica to be better to that of Robusta.

When unroasted, Arabica beans smell like blueberries. The aroma of the roasted beans has been described as perfume like with hints of fruit and sugar. These aromas continue after you brew coffee.

Yes, Arabica beans are usually more acidic and less bitter than Robusta beans.  The acid come through as fruity flavours. Low acidity varieties can have a less fruity flavour.

Arabica coffee beans are typically considered as nicer  tasting than Robusta beans as they show a more refined sweeter and less bitter taste. However, some blended coffee than include both Arabica & Robusta can exhibit superior taste and are very popular.

Arabica beans have caffeine but commonly less caffeine than Robusta coffee.

Raw Arabica beans have about 1.2{%percent} caffeine. Raw Robusta beans contain about double as much caffeine, at 2.2percent.

Despite the higher amount of caffeine, usually people would rather consume Arabica as it is less bitter & displays a superior taste.

Arabica coffee is most costly compared to Robusta beans as it is harder to cultivate.

Arabica is grown in colder sub-tropical climates & at a higher altitudes (600-2000m). Robusta on the other hand is often cultivated at sea level and in hotter climates.

Robusta is as its name indicates ‘robust’ and tolerates a broader range of environmental conditions. Robusta is easier to tend to on the farm, has greater bean yield and is better resistant to pests.

No, there are a lot of differences comparing Arabica beans that are grown in different {countriesnations} & locations. This is because of the range of climates, soils & other characteristics associated with their farming and preparation.

The roast proceedure also plays a major part in the flavour profile of the beans. Combining different types & roasting is both an art and science. Specialist roasters meticulously control & adjust all aspects of the roasting proceedure to develop different flavours in their beans and ensure consistency across batches of roasts. Taste differs based on if it is a light roast, medium roast or dark roast coffee and a range of additional things that are controlled during the roasting.

Darker roasts will show a much richer, bolder taste than lighter roasted coffee. Light roasted beans usually retain more flavours than darker roasts. This can mean that the distinct flavours of the coffee from the different areas are be more distinguishable in light roasted beans. This is important to consider when buying beans.
