FAQs

Arabica beans are farmed in many nations around the globe. Brazil is the biggest producer of Arabica.  Even though Arabica is cultured in many countries, each country and region will result in a distinct flavour from what is basically the same coffee bush due to their distinct climates, soils, altitudes, processing methods among other aspects.

Arabica coffee beans are from the Coffea arabica shrub that are commonly know as “mountain coffee” or “arabica coffee”. Arabica coffee makes up approximatly 60% of the global coffee bean production.

The taste of Arabica beans varies depending on the location, they are generally sweet with notes of coco and sugar. They can also display fruit or berry flavours and can exhibit hints of cereal or nuts.

Arabica tends to exhibit more acidity & less bitterness than Robusta beans that are stronger, harsher & may display grainy or rubbery overtones.

Most people find the taste of Arabica to be superior to that of Robusta.

When unroasted, Arabica beans smell like blueberries. The aroma of the roasted beans has been described as perfume like with hints of fruit and sugar. These aromas continue after you brew coffee.

Yes, Arabica beans are usually more acidic and less bitter than Robusta beans.  The acid come through as fruity flavours. Low acidity types can have a reduced fruity taste.

Arabica coffee beans are commonly known as nicer  tasting than Robusta beans as they display a more refined sweeter and less bitter flavour. However, some blended coffee than include both Arabica & Robusta can have superior taste and are very renowned.

Arabica beans have caffeine but generally less caffeine than Robusta coffee beans.

Raw Arabica beans have about 1.2{%percent} caffeine. Raw Robusta beans contain about double as much caffeine, at 2.2percent.

Despite the higher level of caffeine, most people would rather consume Arabica because it is less bitter & displays a better taste.

Arabica coffee is most costly than Robusta beans because it is more difficult to cultivate.

Arabica is grown in colder sub-tropical climates & at a higher altitudes (600-2000m). Robusta on the other hand is usually grown at sea level and in hotter climates.

Robusta is as its name indicates ‘robust’ and tolerates a broader range of environmental conditions. Robusta is simplier to tend to on the farm, has more bean yield & is more resistant to bugs.

No, there is a lot of differences comparing Arabica coffeecoffee beans that are grown in different {countriesnations} and locations. This is because of the different climates, soils and other characteristics associated with their culturing and processing.

The roast process also plays a significant role in the taste characteristics of the coffee beans. Combining different varieties and roasting is an art and science. Professional roasters meticulously control & change every aspect of the roasting process to make different flavours in their beans and maintain consistency between batches of beans. Flavour differs depending on if it is a light roast, medium roast or dark roast coffee and a number of other factors that are controlled during the proceedure.

Darker roasts will have a much richer, bolder flavour than lighter roasted beans. Light roasted coffee usually retain more tastes than dark roasts. This can mean that the distinguishable flavours of the coffee from the different regions are be more pronounced in lighter roasted coffee. This is paramount to consider when purchasing beans.
