Specialist roasters carefully control and adjust every aspect of the roast process to develop different flavours in their coffee and ensure consistency between batches of beans. Taste changes depending on if it is a light roast, medium roast or dark roast coffee and a range of other aspects that are controlled during the proceedure.

Darker roasts will exhibit a much richer, bolder taste than lightly roasted coffee. Light roasted beans will retain more flavours than dark roasts. This can mean that the distinguishable flavours of the beans from the different areas can often be more distinguishable in lighter roasted beans. This is key to consider when buying coffee.
