FAQs

Arabica beans are grown in many nations around the world. Brazil is the biggest producer of Arabica.  Even though Arabica is farmed in many nations, each country and area will produce a distinct taste from what is essentially the same coffee tree due to their different climates, soils, altitudes, processing methods among other aspects.

Arabica coffee beans are beans from the Coffea arabica species that are commonly know as “mountain coffee” or “arabica coffee”. Arabica coffee makes up about 60% of the global coffee bean production.

The flavour of Arabica beans changes depending on the area, they are typically sweet with notes of chocolate and sugar. They can also display fruit or berry flavours and may display hints of cereal or nuts.

Arabica tends to display more acidity & less bitterness than Robusta beans that tend to be stronger, harsher & may display grainy or rubbery tastes.

Manny people find the taste of Arabica to be superior to that of Robusta.

When unroasted, Arabica beans smell like blueberries. The aroma of the roasted beans has been described as perfume like with hints of fruit and sugar. These aromas continue after you brew coffee.

Yes, Arabica beans are usually more acidic & less bitter than Robusta beans.  The acid are shown as fruity flavours. Low acidity types may display a less fruity taste.

Arabica coffee beans are typically known as nicer  tasting than Robusta beans as they exhibit a more refined sweeter & less bitter flavour. However, some coffee blends than include both Arabica & Robusta can exhibit superior taste and are very renowned.

Arabica beans contain caffeine but usually less caffeine as opposed to Robusta coffee.

Raw Arabica beans contain ~ 1.2{%percent} caffeine. Raw Robusta beans contain almost twice as much caffeine, at 2.2%.

Despite the greater amount of caffeine, many people would rather have Arabica because it is less bitter and has a better flavour.

Arabica coffee is most costly compared to Robusta coffee because it is more difficult to grow.

Arabica is cultivated in colder sub-tropical climates and at a greater altitudes (600-2000m). Robusta however is commonly grown at sea level & in warmer climates.

Robusta is as its name would suggest ‘robust’ & tolerates a broader range of climatic conditions. Robusta is easier to grow on the farm, has more bean yield and is better resistant to insects.

No, there is a lot of differences comparing Arabica coffeecoffee beans that are farmed in different {countriesnations} and locations. This is due to the different climates, soils and other characteristics associated with their culturing and preparation.

The roast process also influences a significant role in the taste characteristics of the coffee. Combining different types & roasting is both an art & science. Specialist roasters meticulously control and adjust every aspect of the roast process to craft different tastes in their coffee & maintain consistency between batches of roasts. Flavour differs based on if it is a light roast, medium roast or dark roast coffee & a range of additional aspects that are controlled during the roasting.

Darker roasts will exhibit a much richer, bolder taste than lightly roasted coffee. Light roasted coffee beans typcially retain more flavours than dark roasts. This means that the distinguishable flavours of the coffee from the different areas are be more pronounced in lighter roasted coffee. This is paramount to think about when purchasing coffee.
