Arabica beans are produced in many countries around the world. Brazil is the largest producer of Arabica.  Even though Arabica is farmed in many countries, each country and location will make a different flavour from what is basically the same coffee bush due to their different climates, soils, altitudes, processing methods among other aspects.

Arabica coffee beans are from the Coffea arabica plant that are typically know as “mountain coffee” or “arabica coffee”. Arabica coffee makes up approximatly 60% of the global coffee bean supply.

The flavour of Arabica beans changes depending on the area, they are generally sweet with notes of coco & sugar. They can also show fruit or berry flavours & can have hints of cereal or nuts.

Arabica tends to exhibit more acidity and less bitterness than Robusta beans that tend to be stronger, harsher and can display grainy or rubbery tastes.

Manny people find the flavour of Arabica to be better to that of Robusta.

When unroasted, Arabica beans smell like blueberries. The aroma of the roasted beans has been described as perfume like with hints of fruit and sugar. These aromas continue after you brew coffee.

Yes, Arabica beans tend to be more acidic & less bitter than Robusta beans.  The acid come through as fruity flavours. Low acidity varieties may exhibit a less fruity flavour.

Arabica coffee beans are typically thought as better  tasting than Robusta beans as they exhibit a more refined sweeter & less bitter flavour. However, some coffee blends than include both Arabica and Robusta can display superior taste and are very renowned.

Arabica beans contain caffeine but typcially less caffeine compared to Robusta coffee.

Raw Arabica beans contain ~ 1.2{%percent} caffeine. Raw Robusta beans have almost twice as much caffeine, at 2.2percent.

Despite the higher level of caffeine, usually people would rather have Arabica as it is not as bitter and has a nicer flavour.

Arabica coffee is most costly than Robusta coffee as it is harder to farm.

Arabica is grown in cooler sub-tropical climates & at a greater altitudes (600-2000m). Robusta however is commonly grown at sea level and in hotter climates.

Robusta is as its name suggests ‘robust’ & tolerates a broader range of environmental conditions. Robusta is simplier to grow on the plantation, has a higher bean yield and is more resistant to pests.

No, there is a lot of differences between Arabica coffeecoffee beans that are cultured in different {countriesnations} and locations. This is because of the different climates, soils & other characteristics associated with their culturing and processing.

The roasting proceedure also plays a major role in the taste profile of the coffee. Combining different varieties and roasting is both an art & science. Professional roasters carefully control and adjust all aspects of the roast proceedure to make different flavours in their coffee and ensure consistency across batches of coffee. Taste changes depending on if it is a light roast, medium roast or dark roast coffee and a number of additional conditions that are regulated during the roast.

Darker roasts will show a much richer, bolder flavour than lighter roasted beans. Light roasted coffee beans typcially keep more tastes than dark roasts. This means that the distinguishable tastes of the beans from the various areas can often be more pronounced in lighter roasted beans. This is paramount to think about when purchasing beans.
