FAQs

Arabica beans are produced in many countries around the globe. Brazil is the biggest producer of Arabica.  Even though Arabica is farmed in many countries, each country & area will result in a different flavour from what is basically the same coffee species due to their different climates, soils, altitudes, processing methods among other aspects.

Arabica coffee beans are beans from the Coffea arabica tree which is typically know as “mountain coffee” or “arabica coffee”. Arabica coffee makes up approximatly 60% of the global coffee bean production.

The taste of Arabica beans changes depending on the region, they are typically sweet with notes of coco and sugar. They can also exhibit fruit or berry tasts and may exhibit hints of cereal or nuts.

Arabica tends to display more acidity & less bitterness than Robusta beans which are typically stronger, harsher & can show grainy or rubbery overtones.

Manny people find the taste of Arabica to be better to that of Robusta.

When unroasted, Arabica beans smell like blueberries. The aroma of the roasted beans has been described as perfume like with hints of fruit and sugar. These aromas continue after you brew coffee.

Yes, Arabica beans tend to be more acidic and less bitter than Robusta beans.  The acid are exhibited as fruity flavours. Low acidity types may display a less fruity flavour.

Raw Arabica beans contain about 1.2{%percent} caffeine. Raw Robusta beans have almost double as much caffeine, at 2.2percent.

Arabica coffee is most costly compared to Robusta beans because it is more difficult to cultivate.

Arabica is grown in cooler sub-tropical climates and at a higher altitudes (600-2000m). Robusta however is often grown at sea level & in hotter climates.

Robusta is as its name indicates ‘robust’ & withstands a broader range of climatic conditions. Robusta is simplier to grow on the farm, has greater bean yield and is more resistant to pest insects.

No, there is a lot of differences between Arabica coffeecoffee beans that are farmed in different {countriesnations} and areas. This is because of the different climates, soils and other characteristics associated with their culturing and preparation.

The roast proceedure also plays a major part in the taste characteristics of the beans. Mixing different types and roasting is both an art & science. Professional roasters meticulously control and adjust all aspects of the roast process to craft different tastes in their coffee & ensure consistency across batches of roasts. Taste differs based on if it is a light roast, medium roast or dark roast coffee & a range of additional factors that are regulated during the proceedure.

Darker roasts will have a much richer, bolder taste than lightly roasted beans. Light roasted coffee typcially keep more flavours than darker roasts. This can mean that the distinguishable flavours of the coffee from the various locations are be more pronounced in lighter roasted beans. This is key to think about when buying coffee.
