FAQs

Arabica beans are cultured in many countries around the globe. Brazil is the largest producer of Arabica.  Even though Arabica is farmed in many nations, each nation and area will result in a distinct taste from what is essentially the same coffee species due to their distinct climates, soils, altitudes, processing methods among other aspects.

Arabica coffee beans are from the Coffea arabica tree that are usually know as “mountain coffee” or “arabica coffee”. Arabica coffee makes up about 60% of the world’s coffee bean production.

The taste of Arabica beans varies depending on the area, they are generally sweet with notes of coco and sugar. They can also show fruit or berry flavours and can show hints of cereal or nuts.

Arabica tends to display more acidity & less bitterness than Robusta beans which are typically stronger, harsher and may have grainy or rubbery overtones.

Usually people find the flavour of Arabica to be tastier to that of Robusta.

When unroasted, Arabica beans smell like blueberries. The aroma of the roasted beans has been described as perfume like with hints of fruit and sugar. These aromas continue after you brew coffee.

Yes, Arabica beans tend to be more acidic & less bitter than Robusta beans.  The acid are shown as fruity flavours. Low acidity types may exhibit a less fruity taste.

Arabica coffee beans are commonly thought as nicer  tasting than Robusta beans as they exhibit a more refined sweeter and less bitter taste. However, some coffee blends than include both Arabica & Robusta can have nicerbetter taste & are extremely renowned.

Arabica beans contain caffeine but typcially less caffeine as opposed to Robusta coffee beans.

Raw Arabica beans contain about 1.2{%percent} caffeine. Raw Robusta beans contain almost double as much caffeine, at 2.2%.

Despite the higher amount of caffeine, usually people would rather have Arabica because it is less bitter and displays a nicer flavour.

Arabica coffee is more expensive than Robusta beans because it is harder to cultivate.

Arabica is grown in cooler sub-tropical climates and at a greater altitudes (600-2000m). Robusta however is commonly cultivated at sea level and in hotter climates.

Robusta is as its name indicates ‘robust’ and tolerates a broader range of environmental conditions. Robusta is easier to grow on the plantation, has greater fruit yield & is better resistant to pest insects.

No, there is a lot of differences between Arabica coffeecoffee beans that are cultured in different {countriesnations} & locations. This is because of the different climates, soils and other characteristics associated with their culturing and processing.

The roasting process also influences a major part in the taste profile of the coffee. Blending different types and roasting is an art & science. Specialist roasters carefully control & adjust every aspect of the roast proceedure to develop different flavours in their beans and maintain consistency across batches of roasts. Taste differs depending on if it is a light roast, medium roast or dark roast coffee & a number of additional conditions that are regulated during the proceedure.

Darker roasts will have a much richer, bolder taste than lightly roasted beans. Light roasted beans usually keep more tastes than dark roasts. This means that the marked flavours of the beans from the various regions are be more distinct in light roasted coffee. This is key to think about when purchasing coffee beans.
